Raw Nutella- with skin nourishing benefits

This one time on a rainy Saturday I devoured an entire jar of Nutella whilst watching Netflix.

Ok, it may have happened more than once..

However since I discovered this raw nutella recipe, I haven't been able to go back! With rich chocolatey flavours but also incredibly nourishing for your skin, what's not to love?

Skin nourishing benefits

CACAO

Cacao has one of the highest measured antioxidant (ORAC) capacities and is an incredibly powerful anti-ageing ingredient. Its high antioxidant content helps it to protect skin from free radical damage and the precursors of ageing. 

Cacao has even more skin nourishing benefits, helping to repair skin from the inside out, as well as helping to soothe redness and blemishes.

It also been found to help increase blood circulation in the skin which helps not  only bring essential nutrients to the skin but also reduce dullness and produce a radiant, glow from within.

HAZELNUTS

Hazelnuts are high in Vitamins A, C, E - the triple whammy when it comes to nourishing your skin in the best way possible. The synergistic effect of these vitamins helps to prevent the onset of fine lines and wrinkles in your skin and protect against premature ageing. One cup of hazelnuts offers about 86% of the daily Vitamin E requirement. It also contains Vitamin A and Vitamin C, two powerful antioxidants. A synergic effect of these vitamins prevents the onset of fine lines and wrinkles on your skin, thus delaying the early onset of ageing signs.

The flavanoids in Hazelnuts, along with the antioxidants stimulates the regeneration of skin cells. This helps to eliminate dead cells, creating visibly healthier and younger looking skin.

RECIPE

Ingredients

2 cups raw hazelnuts

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1/2 tsp sea salt

1/2 cup maple syrup

3 tablespoons of raw cacoa powder

Method:

Spread the hazelnuts over a baking trayand bake at 160C for around 10 mins. Cool slightly and remove skins (optional). 

Once cool place them in a food processor and blend for about ten minutes, or until a runny butter forms.  Pour into a bowl and slowly stir in the vanilla, salt, maple syrup and cacoa powder. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to a week.

Honestly never thought of making my own nutella, but this is such a great idea and delicious sounding recipe. Can’t wait to give it a try!!
